- 1Do guests need to download an app?
- No. Guests open your link or scan the QR code in their phone browser, type a name, and they are in. No install, no account, no password.
- 2What is included besides trivia?
- Three more wedding reception activities behind the same guest link: a photo hunt with nine prompts, a digital guestbook for messages from guests’ phones, and a shared photo gallery. Switch any of them on or off; you can also just run trivia. Every plan includes all of them—you only pay for guest capacity.
- 3Are photo hunt, guestbook, and the gallery included in the price?
- Yes. ourreception.com pricing is by guest limit (free for up to 5 guests, then one-time €9 / €19 / €29 for higher caps). Live trivia, photo hunt, guestbook, and the shared gallery are included on every plan. There is no separate fee per game.
- 4Do I pay separately for each wedding reception game?
- No. One event price covers the guest cap for that wedding. Guests use one link for trivia, photo hunt, guestbook, and gallery. If you later need a higher guest limit, you only pay the difference between caps.
- 5Is the free plan limited to trivia only?
- No. The free tier (up to 5 guests) includes the same activities as paid plans: live trivia, photo hunt, guestbook, and photo gallery. Use it to rehearse the full night on a few phones before you upgrade for the reception.
- 6What do I need on the day?
- Two screens. A laptop connected to the projector or TV shows the QR code and the questions to the room, and Live control on your own phone is where you start each round and switch the big screen between trivia, photo hunt, guestbook, and gallery. Plus a way to share the link or QR, such as table cards, slides, or signage.
- 7Can we use our own trivia questions?
- Yes, that is the point of it. You write up to 20 questions about the two of you and set the timer per question anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds. There is a question bank to start from if you would rather edit than write from scratch.
- 8How does scoring work?
- Every correct answer is worth the same 1000 points, so a lucky guess on question one never decides the night. Ties break on total answer time, which is why the leaderboard almost never ends level.
- 9Can guests join after the game has started?
- Yes. Anyone can join at any point while you are under your guest cap. They miss the points from questions already played, but they show up on the leaderboard and can answer everything from that moment on.
- 10Does it work if the venue Wi-Fi is weak?
- Guests need a working connection while they play, and mobile data is usually the safer bet than crowded venue Wi‑Fi. Open your link on a phone once you are at the venue so you know before the toast, not during it.
- 11Can we hold guestbook messages before the room sees them?
- Yes. Turn on moderation and new entries stay hidden until you approve them, which matters if the guestbook is on the big screen. You also choose separately whether guests can attach photos to their messages and whether the guestbook shows on the projector at all.
- 12Is there a free tier?
- Yes. Up to 5 guests is free, which is enough to test the setup, the presenter screen, and joining as a guest yourself. Beyond that it is a one-time charge for that event: €9 up to 30 guests, €19 up to 100, €29 up to 300.
- 13What counts against the guest limit?
- Each phone that joins with a name, counted once when they join. Couples who share one phone count once, and the limit is per event rather than per activity, so the same joined guest can play trivia, post to the guestbook, and upload photos.
- 14When should we upgrade from the free tier?
- Before the big day if you expect more than five phones in play, or if you want headroom for late RSVPs. Moving to a higher cap later only charges the difference, so starting one tier down is not a trap.
- 15Do we get to keep the messages and photos?
- Yes. After the reception you can download the guestbook as a PDF and the full photo set as a ZIP from your dashboard. Do it in the weeks right after: event data is deleted 30 days after your wedding date.
- 16Can we make it look like our wedding?
- You pick a palette and a font for everything guests see, or build a custom palette from your own colours, and add a cover photo that guests land on when they open the link.
